Actuarial Analyst

Hooker & Holcombe, New England's premier regional retirement consulting firm is seeking a full-time Actuarial Analyst who is a College graduate with prior experience in the pension field. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and energetic, with an attitude that will contribute positively to the era of growth and innovation the company is entering. Hooker & Holcombe is a mid-sized company with more than 70 employees located in Bloomfield, CT.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares annual actuarial valuations and applicable benefit statements [with guidance]. This process includes but is not limited to: data reconciliation, asset reconciliation, updating plan features and actuarial assumptions
  • Determines accounting assets and liabilities and completes basic applicable accounting expense reports and disclosures [with guidance] in a timely manner that meets client's expectations.
  • Completes government filings.
  • Completes benefit calculations.
  • Completes cost estimates for proposed assumption or plan changes when applicable.
  • Provides pension information requested by accountants in connection with pension plan audits.
  • May participate in special client or company related projects.
  • Manages assigned workload.

  • Participates effectively on projects as measured by feedback from others.
  • Establishes respectful working relationships with coworkers.

Job Requirements

  • College graduate with evidence of strong analytical skills.
  • Prior pension/post-retirement medical experience preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Efficient use of Microsoft products including Word and Excel.
  • Prior experience with ProVal is a plus but not required.
